Ich liebe Deutschland

Happy New Year!!

Yes, this is my first blog post of 2013. No, I am not proud of this shameful delay. I do have a good excuse though: my life has gone through so many changes, that I just couldn’t find the time (or the discipline) to sit down and work on this blog. I missed it terribly though, and often thought about it. For me, blogging provides an ideal space, not just to publicize personal work (in my case, illustration and photography), but also to speak a little bit about art, travelling and what inspires me, hopefully inspiring others in return, of course.

So without further ado, this is what happened, in a nutshell:

After New York…

New York

Switzerland…

Switzerland

and Barcelona…

Spain

I moved to Hamburg, in Germany.

Hamburg

Life has been pretty wonderful (and totally hectic!) and I am very much in love with this city. Work is great, the people are lovely and the city itself is absolutely gorgeous. My next post is going to be about some of the amazing things I’ve been seeing around here and also some illustration work I have done lately. I have tons of stuff to show, so come back and have a look!

Lots of love from Deutschland.

A little bit of my life in Switzerland, as seen through my cell phone.

Yes, I admit it, I am absolutely in love with Instagram. It’s an addiction.

I’ve been going through a meticulous process of finding interesting artists to follow and it’s amazing to get a glimpse of their work processes and understand a little bit of how their minds work. The other day I actually came to the conclusion that some of the best feeds I’ve seen are from Thailand. I can’t explain why. Just beautiful illustrations and stunning photography. Not your usual Instagram-type pictures, if you know what I mean. While I definitely don’t mind those, I think Instagram is not just about seeing what my friends are up to (to be honest, I don’t really care what they’re eating or wearing), it can also be a very good tool for finding great references and inspiration.

It has been too long

Hello my dears,

At last, I am back. It has been a long time indeed.

I am in Switzerland at the moment, and for those of you who have never been here in the summer, I entirely recommend it. It’s light, green and so beautiful.

I have been drawing LOTS and working on tons of different projects: children’s clothes for a client in LA, portraits for a client in NY, business cards, logos and stationery for a client in Brazil, a children’s book, a book of short stories and a brand new blog project. I am breathless and in need of a good nap, but excited and inspired.

I have updated my website and added a number of new pieces and projects there. Check them out on www.atelierjoanafaria.com – I hope you like it!

I am always posting pictures, sketches and work in progress on Instagram. For updates, follow me @joanafaria.

Lots of love from Switzerland.

// Happy New Year!

Hello my lovelies,

I just got back from Switzerland. – Literally yesterday! I haven’t even unpacked properly yet. My stuff is all over the apartment.

This is me as I arrived, with snow on my boots and a suitcase full of wonderful pretty things. :)

What a magical country! I am completely and hopelessly in love with it. I have so many wonderful photos and illustrations to post here, I can’t wait. I just need to unpack first and organize my life a little bit. I just got back to work too and it’s CRAZY.

How are you all? I am dying to visit your blogs and see what everyone’s been up to.

In the meantime, have a great week everyone and a lot of inspiration and good energy for 2011.

Lots of love from Lisbon ♥
