London Fashion Week S/S 2012 – Day 8

London Fashion Week has come to an end and my last assignment was Elisa Palomino.

Her catwalk show was very theatrical and her collection was all about dramatic gowns and elaborate headpieces. An absolute joy to illustrate, of course!

I always get a little nostalgic when fashion week is over. Though I’m glad to go back to my normal collaborations and ongoing projects, I do miss the excitement and expectation. I never know which designers I’ll be illustrating until the photographs arrive on my mailbox and it’s always a great surprise!

I have so much work to do though, I’ll be a busy bee for the next few days. There will be plenty of new illustration work coming up. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, check out the review of Elisa Palomino’s show here and a backstage interview with the designer here.

London Fashion Week S/S 2012 – Day 7

And on the seventh day… there was no rest whatsoever. Not quite yet! My 7th day of London Fashion Week was dedicated to Lako Bukia.

Bold contrasts and big splashes of red were everywhere, so the illustrations pretty much came into existence by themselves! I couldn’t wait to get started and decided to really get into the spirit of the clothes and go all the way with the reds and blacks. It was fun and completely different from my usual girlie drawings and soft palette.

Stay tuned for my final day of London Fashion Week illustration! Tomorrow!

London Fashion Week S/S 2012 – Day 6

My day 6 of London fashion Week was all about Mary Katrantzou.

I illustrated her designs before, for the last LFW (see here), and absolutely loved it, so this time I made sure I was given this assignment again. Aren’t I clever? She is one of my favorites and I love her prints and fearless use of color. Her clothes are an illustrator’s dream!

London Fashion Week S/S 2012 – Day 5

Yay, finally! One of my favorite designers: Holly Fulton.

Her work is always stunning. She mixes art deco influences with a 70s vibe and fantastic colors. Her jewelery is breathtaking. Just take a glimpse at her webpage for previous collections and you’ll see what I’m talking about. I adore her! She’s one of my favorites. – Did I mention that already?

Fashion writer Miranda Williams reviewed the show and took some fantastic pictures. Check it out in Amelia’s Magazine. There are some great illustrations there too!

London Fashion Week S/S 2012 – Day 4

After much playing around with illustrator, it’s back to the good old pen/pencil on white paper combination. It’s my favorite medium and I can’t stay away from it for too long.

My fourth assignment for London Fashion Week was Basso & Brooke.

Fashion writer Akeela Bhattay sent me some gorgeous pictures of the runway…

… and I started scribbling straight away.

I had a great time drawing these two girls. I loved the dresses. Gorgeous prints and colors, perfect summer dresses, really, and great inspiration too. Also, I realized that I haven’t done much pencil work lately and really missed it so I just went for it. It was one definitely of my favorite Fashion Week assignments so far.
