The Piano Room

In preparation for a lovely Arts & Crafts event taking place in London in October (more about that later!), I’ve been going through some of my old illustration pieces.
This one was originally black and white, drawn on very textured recycled paper. Just for fun, I decided to colour it whilst trying to maintain some of the original texture.

I was quite happy with the result, I must admit. I don’t usually revisit old illustrations or rework them, but this time, I was glad I did it! I didn’t think the colours would work so it was a nice surprise.

I created this illustration years ago, while I was reading The Great Gatsby. I was inspired by Daisy Buchanan, one of the main characters, though looking back now, I think the style of this illustration is more Jane Austen than Fitzgerald. Check out the original drawing here.

I’ll make a couple of tests to see if this piece works as an Art Print. If it does, I will produce a limited number for my Etsy shop and advertise here so, watch this space! :0)

A Victorian House and an Etsy shop!

A few days ago I started painting a little Victorian house.

These houses are everywhere in England. They look so cute, with their red bricks, chimneys and tamed gardens… Bigger versions of doll houses, really. I never get tired of looking at them.

A few days after I completed this painting, I finally opened my first Etsy shop! I have been talking about it for a while and it’s finally happened! I can’t believe it has taken me such a long time to do this. I have loved Etsy for YEARS… It’s all done now and I am incredibly excited. To celebrate, I decided to list this piece for sale at a special price. It’s a one-off, watercolour original, signed by the artist (me!).

I think it looks cute on a white frame, wouldn’t you agree? It’s the kind of “happy illustration” that I love producing. If you like it, you can purchase it here.

I have a couple of other things in the shop too, take a look! It’s still early days so bear with me. I am stocking up on A LOT of goodies!

New shop opening soon

I have received the most beautiful art prints for my new shop! I am opening an Etsy shop very soon and I’m stocking up on lots of fabulous goodies.

Here is a sneak peek of my Vintage Girls. They were printed on gorgeous Tintoretto Gesso paper, which is one of my favourite papers ever! It has a delicious texture that brings out the colors beautifully.

I illustrated these girls a while back but I’m still very proud of them. They seem to be rather popular too, which is so flattering! I think the soft tones and the details make this a very feminine piece. It looks quite lovely on a nice frame, I must say.

Stay tuned for more news about my Etsy shop. There will be lots of beautiful art there, as well as custom-made pieces to order. I have loved Etsy for years now (who hasn’t?) and I am beyond excited to be opening my own shop! I’ll let you all know as soon as it’s ready.

Lots of love from England.
