Crafty Fox

This time next week I will be in London getting ready for my very first Crafty Fox Market!

If you live in the UK and have a passion for all things handmade, you will have heard of Crafty Fox. It is one of the best Arts & Crafts fairs in the country. I have been a fan for ages and now for the first time, I will be there as a trader. I’m so excited, I can’t wait!

Crafty Fox

I have been putting lots of illustration goodies together for the market: greeting cards, postcards, Art Prints of various sizes, etc. I will also have a couple of framed originals, which I think is always a good idea.

Thinking of Paris_01 Thinking of Partis_02 A little sneak peek of one of my postcards. They are available in my Etsy shop too, if you can’t make it to the fair.

You can see the full trader listing here. There are lots of cool stuff and very talented people. If you’re around on Sunday 5th October, come and say hi! I will be on the second floor, so come and find me. :0)

See you there!

A Victorian House and an Etsy shop!

A few days ago I started painting a little Victorian house.

House_03

These houses are everywhere in England. They look so cute, with their red bricks, chimneys and tamed gardens… Bigger versions of doll houses, really. I never get tired of looking at them.

A few days after I completed this painting, I finally opened my first Etsy shop! I have been talking about it for a while and it’s finally happened! I can’t believe it has taken me such a long time to do this. I have loved Etsy for YEARS… It’s all done now and I am incredibly excited. To celebrate, I decided to list this piece for sale at a special price. It’s a one-off, watercolour original, signed by the artist (me!).

I think it looks cute on a white frame, wouldn’t you agree? It’s the kind of “happy illustration” that I love producing. If you like it, you can purchase it here.

I have a couple of other things in the shop too, take a look! It’s still early days so bear with me. I am stocking up on A LOT of goodies!

Lots of love,

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?

Mary

This is the latest illustration I was commissioned to create, for the bedroom of a baby girl.

The baby’s name is Maria, so I kept thinking about Mary Lennox from The Secret Garden, one of my favourite characters in children’s literature. She has a bit of a temper and a mind of her own, but she is also imaginative and has a kind heart. The end of the book is gorgeous so I thought that Mary and the garden were the perfect inspiration for this drawing.

New wall art

I hope baby Maria likes her illustration! :0)

The tea lover

This little lady is on her way to Portugal to go in the bedroom of gorgeous baby girl, Emily.

Emily was born in Lisbon but she is half Brazilian, half British, so I decided that TEA would be the perfect inspiration for this piece. Lots and lots of it!

work in progress Emily

She is a slightly quieter, more civilized version of the Mad Hatter, I think. His well-behaved, but still quite eccentric, niece! – Or something like that.

I hope baby Emily likes her as much as I enjoyed creating her. :0)

In addition to this, I am working on a second commission piece this week, for yet another baby girl! What is going on, people? SO MANY girls coming into the world this year! (I absolutely love it.) Keep an eye on instagram for some behind the scene pics. Here: @joanafaria.

All I want for Christmas…

…is to give presents!

Here’s the first present I gave this year. A little illustration for a very dear friend.

He really liked it, which is all that matters to me.

And speaking of gifts…

My print shop is up and running and taking orders. If you’re looking for something sweet and original for Christmas, this could be a good idea.

All illustrations were carefully selected and originally produced with a lot of love. The prints are limited edition so if you find something you like, let me know. Check them out here
