The third issue of Lionheart Magazine is out in the UK. It’s the Adventure Issue and it’s STUNNING!
This was my latest collaboration. I illustrated the World’s best brownie recipe which, for a chocolate addict such as myself, couldn’t have been more perfect. My brief was: “Illustrate a Chocolate Goddess”. Here is a little work in progress and the final piece:
(Gorgeous cover by Gemma Milly)
I had such a brilliant time making this illustration, adding in all the details, patterns and colors. It’s quite elaborate line work which is what I like doing best, so I’m pretty happy with it.
You can order your copy here.
Lots of love.

When I submitted my Mulled Wine recipe to the They Draw and Cook Christmas recipe compilation, I also sent this second option: a very creamy and tasty sun-dried tomato dip. – This is my boyfriend’s recipe. I’ve had it countless times and swear by it. It’s amazing.
Here are a couple of close-ups.
The good news: this illustration was nominated Illustration of the Day by TDAC (yay!):
and it was also nominated Favourite Recipe of the Day on the Food Network blog, The FN Dish (yay!):
I was away on holiday when this happened so it was a great surprise. Needless to say, I was over the moon when I found out. :)
This is what they had to say about the piece:
“Drawing Inspiration: Dipping Into the New Year” by Nate Padavick
“Mmm-mmm-mm. This is such a simple and easy recipe that promises such big flavor. We’re pretty sure there won’t be any of this left over after a holiday party. We love Joana Faria‘s slightly edgy illustration style. The creative twist on the Advent calendar works so well for this recipe. The chunky hand-lettering style is great combined with the delicate rows of garland. If you venture over to her website you’ll see lots more of her detailed line drawings and intriguing designs. In fact, we love this recipe so much we made it for our own get-together, and it turned out great. Next stop, New Year’s.”
Aw… They are so wonderful, the guys over at They Draw and Cook! They never fail to bring a smile to my face. I urge you to take a look at their incredible project and website: www.theydrawandcook.com – It’s definitely one of a kind!
Lots of love from Lisbon.

I am so happy today! After a few very busy days, I can finally share this illustration piece here.
It was published yesterday on the lovely They Draw and Cook website, as part of their Christmas recipe contest. I had an amazing time drawing it and I am so flattered by the emails and comments I have received so far. I guess there are a lot of Mulled wine fans out there! I am definitely one. :)
Here’s the whole illustration.
And here are some details (it’s quite a long piece, so I tried to add as much as possible to it).
The recipe is authentic and yummy. I urge you to give it a try. You won’t regret it, I promise.
Check out TDAC website here. It’s so adorable!
Lots of love from Lisbon. ♥
