I am honored and oh, so proud to have been featured on none other than the BBC Travel blog The Passport. Yes baby, the BBC!
The lovely people at BBC are running a special feature on the illustrated maps produced for They Draw and Travel. My very pink and very girlie “Les Cafés de Paris” was one of the chosen ones. Check it out:
I’m so very proud!
Lots of love from Switzerland.

Instagram has made me lazy and I’m afraid I have been neglecting my poor blog. My sketchbook is full of new drawings and experiments and I keep forgetting to post them here. Bad illustrator! Bad!
Here is one of my favorite new scribbles. It’s called “The Cat Lover”.
New sketches coming up soon.

Hello my dears,
At last, I am back. It has been a long time indeed.
I am in Switzerland at the moment, and for those of you who have never been here in the summer, I entirely recommend it. It’s light, green and so beautiful.
I have been drawing LOTS and working on tons of different projects: children’s clothes for a client in LA, portraits for a client in NY, business cards, logos and stationery for a client in Brazil, a children’s book, a book of short stories and a brand new blog project. I am breathless and in need of a good nap, but excited and inspired.
I have updated my website and added a number of new pieces and projects there. Check them out on www.atelierjoanafaria.com - I hope you like it!
I am always posting pictures, sketches and work in progress on Instagram. For updates, follow me @joanafaria.
Lots of love from Switzerland.

…but let’s have some mulled wine, shall we? :)
I’ve recently received the great news that my Christmas Mulled Wine recipe was one of the illustrations selected to feature in a review about They Draw and Cook.
The article was written by Len Kendall and published in Brain Pickings which is one of my favorite blogs! Kendall says “Even for those of us who aren’t interested in doing much cooking ourselves, the site is an absolute treat of unique hand-drawn visual art.” – Needless to say, I was over the moon! I know I keep saying this, but I’ll say it again: They Draw and Cook rocks!
Check out the feature here.

♥ A few months ago I made an illustration for the lovely Carole from Mademoiselle Poirot.
I was inspired by her wavy hair, her love of vintage and her delicate handmade crafts (she makes BEAUTIFUL things! Check out her blog.).
Thankfully, she loved the illustration (Yay!) and framed it. It now hangs amongst lovely art pieces on the walls of her cozy London home.
Pics by Mademoiselle Poirot.
I was so happy and flattered when I saw these pictures. It’s an amazing feeling to know that an illustration I made is bringing happiness to someone and becoming part of that person’s life. I will never get used it or take it for granted. It’s WONDERFUL.
Thank you Carole!
