How about a wonderful movie recommendation?
I’m a huge film enthusiast and I can be a real pain because I looove criticizing and finding little faults in everything I watch (yeah I know, so annoying right? I can’t help it! I really can’t!) This, however, is not the case with Gosford Park. It’s such a wonderful film, I found it pretty much perfect.
The story follows a group of British aristocrats, wealthy Americans and their many servants. The contrasts between the different groups of people and the way the plot develops and reveals the characters, their stories and their intentions is well crafted and very gripping. Love affairs, murders, scandals, betrayals, you name it, it’s all there. It also has one of the best casts I’ve ever seen together: Helen Mirren, Clive Owen, Emily Watson, Kristin Scott Thomas (I LOVE her!), etc. – Definitely one of my favorites!

♥ This illustration was a special gift I prepared for a very dear friend who celebrated her birthday a few days ago. She really loved it, which made me so happy!
♥ This is the original piece, but I also have a few prints available for sale! – The paper is very high quality photographic paper (coated with a matte finish) and sizes vary from A5 to A4 to A3.
Give me a shout if you’re interested (via email, twitter or via a comment on this post) and I’ll make all necessary arrangements for you.
Lots of love from Lisbon and have a great week.

Hello lovelies,
♥ Here are a few recent scribbles from my very busy illustration sketchbook.
It’s always fun doodling with pencils, adding shadows here and there and playing with volume. I love this rough texture and effect you get from very thick pencils.
♥ What will you be doing this weekend? Any nice plans? Is it warm or cold in your part of the world?
It’s so hot here, I’ll try to make it to the beach at some point. I’ll also be drawing loads, mainly for a new project I am working on. It’s a header and background for a brand new beauty/fashion/cosmetics blog from São Paulo. It’s very early days, but as soon as it’s more developed I’ll post some sneaky-peeks here. It’s a very cute project.
♥ Oh, by the way…

Last week I received a new illustration assignment: to color some of the new images I have recently finished for Wardrobe Mistress. – These illustrations are brand new and haven’t been published yet, so I’m keeping them secret for the time being. I hope you don’t mind. :) – Anyway, these new colorful versions will be turned into postcards which is very exciting, as I’ve never done postcards before. Yay! They’ll be all over London and I can’t wait to see them ready!
So, as I was looking for inspiration and trying to decide on my color palette, I kept finding myself being drawn to all things orange. I mean… what? Orange? Really? – This has never happened before. I have always been much more into pastels, nude colors and darker tones. Oh, well I guess inspiration works in weird and magical ways and I think I’ve just discovered my new favorite color. I’m absolutely in love with it.

♥ This week was a very important week. Correction, the 7th of June was a very important day. Why? Because it was my birthday. Hooray!
Marilyn Monroe, also a Gemini, on her 30th birthday, 1st June 1956. Via Pinterest.
Although I’m not really into the whole “getting older and wiser” kind of thing (come on, no proper Gemini is into that sort of stuff and I am as Gemini as it gets!), I am very much into receiving sweet birthday wishes and presents from friends and loved ones.Who isn’t, right?
As I looked through my inbox and facebook page and read all the comments and messages my friends left me, I couldn’t help being happy and proud of knowing so many wonderful people. I know facebook is not really the place one should expect to read sincere words that really come from the heart, but I’m not complaining! It feels good to be remembered and it feels good to know that people took their time to leave me a message (some were really quite creative).

♥ But the very best thing about my birthday is that it’s right next to my best friend’s birthday.
Oh God, I love Juliana. In addition to being a fellow Gemini, this girl is so wonderful, I have no words to describe her. She is coming over from Brazil at the end of the month, and I can’t wait. I’ve known her pretty much all my life. We were inseparable as children and as teenagers, we did everything together: go to the beach, cinema, parties, etc. Everything teenage girls do really. Then my family moved to London, taking me along and we’ve been apart ever since. This was almost twenty years ago.
Of course, we have seen each other many times after that, but only whenever I went back to Brazil for holidays. She has never managed to come and visit me until now. Needless to say, I am so excited! She’s coming over to Portugal for a week, then she’s off to Barcelona and a few days later, we’ll meet again and travel to London and Paris. It’ll be wonderful!
This is us, out and about in Brazil. Juli’s the blonde one, I am the curly-haired one. :)
♥ Women can be very complicated, I know, but as a girl, I still think that having really amazing girlfriends is one of the best things that can happen to you. They are hard to find and very rare. I was very lucky that back in Brazil, I lived across from a number of really wonderful girls who to this day are still my closest friends.

Happy birthday Juli! Love you and miss you lots!
